USARA Regional Series

USARA seeks to foster a national adventure racing community rooted in collaboration and support, and we believe this begins at the regional level with local race directors and their racing communities. Inspired by the autonomous regional efforts and models of RDs coordinating the Wisconsin and Rocky Mountain Adventure Racing Series, USARA is supporting regional RDs currently collaborating to form more cohesive regional communities and race series across the nation.

The Wisconsin Adventure Race Series, without USARA input, required all participating race directors to sanction with USARA in 2025. Series coordinators believed that USARA sanctioning standards helped the series set a higher bar and that USARA sanctioning resources would help prospective RDs to the series meet higher minimum standards. After learning about this policy, USARA decided to more formally ally with the Wisconsin Series and support the mixed gender champion with a $400 credit toward the National Championship.

Starting in 2026, USARA is excited to partner with sanctioned regional RDs to create more regional partnerships while also aligning with the already established Rocky Mountain Series. Each series will organize in autonomous fashion determining the series structure and prizes that work best for each region. USARA will orchestrate occasional meetings between regional coordinators but will generally not play a governing role in regional series aside from requiring that all events abide to USARA sanctioning standards. For each established regional series, USARA pledges to support the mixed gender champion with a $400 credit toward the National Champion.

We hope to work with other regional RDs when the time is right to form additional regional series in other parts of the country in the years ahead!
