2025 USARA National Championship

Results—Women’s Division

Women of AR took the top podium spot in the Women’s Division of the 2025 USARA National Championship in Bentonville, AR, on Sept. 12-13.

Britt Mason, Karyn Dulaney, Nicki Driscoll also won the women’s division of the 2024 National Championship in West Virginia racing as Rootstock Racing—Women. That victory lead to the trio racing for Women of AR for the 24-25 season.

In a National Championship first, the three women ended on on the podium as the third overall team in the race, a feat that would have been impossible if they were not one of the few teams to make the paddle cutoff. In fact, they were one of the final teams to do so as USARA Executive Director Michael Garrison granted the three teams circling the whirlpool by the TA permission to continue on the full course.

And for the 24-25 season, the Women of AR team finished first in the Series Rankings.

Second in the Women’s Division at the National Championship was Pretty Reckless consisting of Alyssa Godesky, Kit Vreeland, and Ashley Eaton. Both Vreeland and Eaton were members of the 2023 Women’s Division National Championship team who then represented Women of AR in 2024 and raced in series races with Women of AR in the 24-25 season.

In third at the 2025 National Championship race in the Women’s Division was Laura Comtois, Annie Hartley, and Lauren Kraft of BRF BARF.

In discussing the race with Doug Silk of AR Dot Watch, Kraft said the course was “dynamic” and indicated her favorite part of the race was “dumping,” referring to flipping the canoe in the river. The swim led to the team portaging the canoe for the second half of the paddle—a strategy also employed by overall winner WEDALI.
