Almost Heaven Adventure Race Under New Management

Davis, West Virginia /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Almost Heaven Adventure Race has transitioned to a new management company – moving from Adventure Enablers to Adventure Source Racing. This strategic change represents a new chapter in the history of the race, with promises of a future filled with innovation, excitement, and unparalleled adventures while sustaining a key race director from the 2023 edition.

Mike Chaney, Owner of Adventure Source Racing, shares the excitement for the transition:

“Adventure Enablers has been instrumental in setting the foundation for the Almost Heaven Adventure Race. We thank them for their dedication and contribution to our success, and we look forward to their continued involvement in this race and the adventure sports world more broadly. At Adventure Source Racing, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Almost Heaven Adventure Race going forward, starting with the return of the race on July 27, 2024. Our team is committed to preserving the race’s core values and participant experience while introducing new features and innovative ideas to take the event to the next level. We believe that adventure should be the source of inspiration and transformation and invite all adventure enthusiasts to join us on this exhilarating journey.”

Mark Harris, Owner of Adventure Enablers and Enabled Tracking added, “As we pass the torch to Adventure Source, we are confident that they will continue to elevate this event to new heights. Mike and Adventure Source were instrumental in making Almost Heaven a reality so it’s clear their passion for adventure and innovation align perfectly with the spirit of the race. I have no doubt that the Almost Heaven Adventure Race will flourish under their management; we wish them the best of luck and know that the event will continue to thrive.”

Almost Heaven Adventure Race and Adventure Source Racing will share more details about their plans for the future in the coming months, including the return of the race planned for July 27 and 28, 2024. The 2023 Almost Heaven Adventure Race was part of the 2023-2024 USARA National Points Series.

Founded in 2023 by Mark Harris, Mike Chaney, and Travis Siehndel, the Almost Heaven adventure race immediately made an impact on racers and the local community. The race brings exposure to one of the true gems in outdoor adventures – West Virginia. By highlighting the beauty and rugged terrain of the region, the Almost Heaven Adventure Race provides racers a true challenge, made somewhat easier by the majestic backdrop of the Monongahela National Forest.

In 2023, a sold-out field of more than 100 racers, including some of the sport’s icons, took part in the inaugural Almost Heaven 24-hour adventure race in Tucker County, West Virginia over October 7th and 8th, 2023. The event course required teams of one to four people to run, bike, and paddle across the region to collect checkpoints while using only a map and compass for navigation; all within the allotted 24 hours. The overall winning team last year was ‘No Complaints’ composed of members Douglas Ritzert, Eric Olsen, Jennifer DeBruyn, and Nathanael Smith.

Adventure Source Racing is a charitable organization dedicated to fostering amateur sporting events. Based in Washington, DC, the company has its roots in adventure racing and strives to deliver a fantastic journey through challenging events and unforgettable experiences.
