Hart Hearts Fall Foliage

Heather Hart of Hart Adventure Racing Team traveled from South Carolina to Virginia to race the Fall Foliage Adventure Race from Broad Run Off Road Race Director Allen Wagner. She first met Allen bushwhacking through a swamp in the Palmetto Swamp Fox Adventure Race. So of course she had to give one of his races a go.

News from the AR/Endurance World

Adventure Enablers is going against tradition and allowing GPS devices in this year’s Shenandoah Epic Adventure Race. Discussion about the move was robust on the Adventure Race Discussion Board on Facebook. Some racers feel it goes against a major component of AR: map and compass work without the assistance of any technology, and vowed not to participate. Others were more open to the “experiment,” hoping that the use of GPS will make the sport more inviting to new racers. Many thought there should be different divisions for those using technology. As of now, the race is not a qualifier for the 2024 USARA National Championship. A decision to include the race in the USARA National Points Series is still pending. Registration for the Shenandoah Epic opens Nov. 1. Race Director Mark Harris promises more information about the race and the use of GPS in the coming weeks.
