Thank you for your interest in hosting a USARA sanctioned event. While we know that insurance is a costly investment for RDs, and it's not exactly the most glamorous or fun part of being a race director, we also believe that offering a high quality insurance package that addresses the unique needs of adventure race directors and their racers is an absolute must. USARA has worked hard over the years to offer the best insurance policy it can to member race directors, and we are proud of the product we offer. We have twenty years of experience, learning what works and what doesn't, and we have worked to build a comprehensive policy that will fulfill your needs at competitive prices, protecting you and providing valuable peace of mind for your race staff while also offering excellent medical coverage for your racers, volunteers, personnel, spectators, and land managers involved in your event.
After purchasing your insurance policy, a certificate of insurance will be available to download from the ASIS insurance website. Also on the website is the USARA waiver, which has been approved for use in all states. Your event must use this waiver and should not modify this waiver nor use any additional waivers as this could destroy the effectiveness of the waiver and impact the effectiveness of our insurance coverage. The waiver may now be placed electronically on your website for participants to complete.
Below, please find the insurance coverage information for 2020 USARA-sanctioned events. The coverage will give promoters their own individual policy limits for each event. This policy provides some of the most comprehensive coverage available in the sport of adventure racing. All participants, volunteers, and staff must sign the enclosed waiver BEFORE the event in order to be eligible for insurance coverage. Events must be approved and have USARA insurance coverage in order to be USARA sanctioned.
Any promoter holding camps or corporate training clinics may insure these events through USARA, using the camp and clinic insurance plan.
For additional questions regarding USARA insurance or to inquire further into event sanctioning, please email USARA.
All expenses associated with race-director fees go to the insurance company and their underwriters.

Individual participant fee/membership
USARA insurance requires individual participants to be "members". Without active membership, racers are not insured under the policy. While we encourage racers to purchase annual memberships, which cover insurance for a year of racing while providing various other benefits, we recognize that many racers may elect to purchase a daily membership, costing 8$.
We strongly encourage race directors to either include this in their registration fee, or include it as an "Ad-on" during the registration process.
USARA is developing a registration option that will allow RDs to send these individual fees to USARA electronically.
