Less than 33 hours to the start of the 2021 USARA Adventure Racing National Championship. Teams from 34 states are enroute to Cable, Wisconsin, for the 30-hour race that starts at 8 am (CT) this Friday, Sept. 10. Some of the media team is already on-site, led by the Legendary Randy Eriksen who will be providing his special commentary, live Facebook check-ins, and amazing photos. We are sure he will be lining up people to interview for the TA1 podcast for the next few weeks. Sam Salwei from YogaSlackers just rolled into town, living that van life. Him and  Raquel have something special planned. I heard she is breaking out the drone. Eric Dunker should be arriving soon (I hope he is not lost already. ERIC GO TO THIS PLACE: https://www.facebook.com/LakewoodsResort ). Directing this motley crew is Dave Gedney. Dude actually volunteered for this job. We are not sure what is wrong with him.

Tim Cowley and I are back at USARA HQ. We will be doing our best to keep the updates rolling so all you “dotwatchers” have something else to look at from time to time.

Who am I you ask? Well, I’m William “Wild Bill” Donohue—the original Adventuring1.You might remember me from such shows as USARA LIVE! and USARA Field Report: Interview with Barbara Phipps (Yep, she’s racing this weekend.)

The last time I raced in Wisconsin, I left such a trail of destruction, I’m not even sure if they would want me back. The story involves a horse, giant bugs, and chaffing so bad I went bare-bottom for a while to let everything air out. Even getting there was a problem. A canceled flight one day, a missed flight the next morning, a demolished bike box, and a lost gear bag (containing my bike saddle) mark that travel experience. I consider making it to the start line a WIN that day—err evening really. They started that race at 6 pm--just how a weary traveler wants to spend happy hour after a day filled with rental cars and lost luggage attendants.
Anyway, I hope the racers have an easier time traveling to the start.
ERIC, ARE YOU THERE YET????
