We're now about four hours into the race. Teams are spread all over Stage 1 on different legs. Some teams have finished a leg (or two) but it's still impossible to get a good feel for who is "winning" at this point. This is one of the known aspects of a cloverleaf start like this. We don't really know how teams are doing relative to each other yet, and neither do they!

What we do know is that teams are a little ahead of the estimates for the fastest times for each leg. This isn't surprising. With SUCH a competitive field we suspected that all those top teams would be pushing each other, and it appears they are, even if they can't see each other.

The photo below shows our Stage 1 tracking board. It shows the start times for teams on each leg as well as their finish time when they complete it. It also shows the order in which they are completing the legs with the number on the right.

One thing to note, this board does NOT show if a team cleared the section and some teams have already been skipping points.

We do already have one team (139-Kuat) on their third leg. They chose to do some of the shortest legs first and have just left on the long paddle (Leg B) that took the fastest teams about 3.5 hours to complete.

It's going to be an exciting few hours until the first teams start to clear this leg!
