WHO: High Profile Adventure
Racing L.L.C, one of the oldest and most respected promoters of
Adventure Racing in the U.S. for over 10 years.
WHAT: The 10th annual, Thunder Rolls, traditional,
expedition style, point to point, unsupported adventure race. Teams of
2 or 3 will navigate using custom LIDAR Orienteering and USGS topo maps
while mountain biking, trekking, orienteering, coasteering, canoeing, caving, and fixed ropes. Note:
The ropes have been set. 12 hour teams will have a 100'+ rappell and
the 24 hour teams will have the rappell and a 120+ ascent!
WHERE: Race Headquarters is
located at YMCA Camp Benson in Mt. Carroll, Illinois. The point to
point course is all new, covering 50 - 100 miles through state parks,
historic sites, private lands, and state forests.
WHEN: Saturday, August 25, 2012
FORMAT: 12 and 24 hour races with coed open and same gender divisions.
CHECKPOINT TRACKER SERIES: Both the 12 and 24 hour races are Checkpoint Tracker Series races. Register your team at www.checkpointtracker.com.
USARA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP: The
top four coed open teams in the 24 hour race will qualify for the 2012
USARA National Championship in October with the winner receiving $400
towards the entry fee.
COST: Only $185.00 per person for the 12 hour race and $225.00 per person for the 24 hour race. Thunder Rolls is by far the BEST VALUE
in all of adventure racing! All racers will receive a North Face
fleece, Zanfel products, Boetjes Mustard, cold MONSTER energy drink at
transition areas, homemade after race pizza, and valuable schwag. All
teams will have identical canoes included in the cost along with free use of kayak paddles and PFD's.
Cabins and Camping are available at the camp and are included in the
cost. A pasta dinner will also be held at the camp just prior to the
race briefing and is included in the registration cost. Note: The
registration cost is the same as it has been in the past. Cabins and
Camping and the pre-race meal have been included in the overall cost
with the proceeds going to the camp as a fundraiser to SEND KIDS TO
CAMP.
PRIZES: from our PRESENTING SPONSOR, Active Endeavors - Davenport, Iowa (www.qcactive.com),
will be presented to the winners in the following divisions: 12 and 24
Hour, 2 and 3 person coed and 2 and 3 person same gender. Certificates
will be presented to the second and third place teams in each of these
divisions.
